ITAP 2010  WEEK 7. principle 2 and principle 5

Principle 2 :Delivery - By choosing from a myriad of platforms illustrators select an appropriate format .
Task: Choose one creative and show how the format and platform has been used too great effect.
platform and format has been used too great effect, magazines, newspaper, brochure, billboards, showcase, the cover of bus...all of that are the platform for design.the work show in different platform will attract different audience.different platform will show the different characteristic of the work.

these are the design of  Parskid, a illustrator for Seattle .he try to show his work in different platforms , it' s  really useful for him.Parskid has been involved in the Seatte underground art scene for over a decade. Parskid draws inspiration from his childhood, nature, fantasy, and folklore to create haunting, otherworldly landscapes traversed by his iconic characters. His work has been exhibited extensively throughout the US, including LA and NYC, and also abroad in France, Australia, Taiwan, Spain, and the UK. His work has been published in the following magazines: Hi-Fructose, King Brown, Art Prostitute, Cool’eh, Novum, Beautiful/Decay, Day in the Lyfe, Belio and Dirty Soup; as well as these published books: Dot Dot Dash, Canceled Flight, War of Monstars, Pictoplasma 2 and Monstaah!.
He work mostly about childhood, the beautiful colour and cute character attract many child,he try to use the magazine, scrawl on the wall and skateboard,glass....as the platform ,it make his work popular .we all know the magazine's audience is who like to read it .but when the platform is other product, like skateboard, glass, the user of these product will become the audience of his work.so is really important for illustrator to show his work in different platforms.

Principle 5 :Methodology - A through and versatile design process enables an illustrator to work Independently and professionally...
Task: In words and pictures demonstrate your own individual design process from brief to conclusion .

when i get the brief paper,i will scanning it and then read it careful and sign the key words and the request ...
after i start it ,first thing is  search .google the topic and the key words.take the last project as a example.

Content Analysis

then i will make a list that what i need to do, what i want to do,after that i will make a mind map.

that the same time i will find some designer's work about this topic.appreciate it,analyse it and try to get some inspiration from it.

then i will draw something about the work as will.

then.make some collection ...and analyse it .

Content Analysis again

ITAP 2010 WEEK 11. principle 1 and principle 5

ITAP 2010  WEEK 11. principle 1 and principle 5

Principle 1: A brief history of production
Task      1:
Principle 5: The experts
Task      5: Who is your favorite expert? why? produce a well reasoned written                      argument.

My favourite expert is Stefan Sagmeister ,like him could be so much reasons,,,,,firstly, he is handsome,,,,,.ha,,,,just kidding.....i think firstly is his humorous, Initially, when i first heard this name Stefan Sagmeister.I don't know who it is ?Actually,according to tutor, Balvir Nandrai know that he is a design expert while i am a novice.
then i google it , i open a webpage, it's a video after his yearlong sabbatical.every seven years ,it says that "Every seven years, designer Stefan Sagmeister closes his New York studio for a yearlong sabbatical to rejuvenate and refresh their creative outlook. He explains the often overlooked value of time off and shows the innovative projects inspired by his time in Bali. "the video talk about his yearlong sabbatical and the inspiration he got and the project he done during his sabbatical and after he come back.....(http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/stefan_sagmeister_the_power_of_time_off.html )
the title is "the power of time off" after this video i find that this guy is very interested,i like his talk.then i search his work ,is so creative ,i saw his work on my Monday class,a few days before  , i really like his work,,,,,he is humorous,in his talk,i find his work are humorous,i think it is a important thing when you working, humorous make every thing easy,it is easy to communicate when people ,it is make people easy to understand you work。here are some picture in his video.it's his furniture design.

i think the most important i like him is his concept, the way he thinking, certainly i will want to know more about him because his talk and his work on the video attract me , make me want to know more about him.

his way make his project give me a good guide,we would observe around ,design is really close to life.i like his style ,ven he use to said  'style = fart'!!!.....
his design very close to daily life, the material he use in his design always comes   from life.

one more reason i like is he is very explicit,do what he want to do ,said want he think is right, honest and frank upright, make me very adore, said what other be afraid to said ........
I really don't know how to said why he is my favorite expert,i think like who ,or who work is a feeling, just when you see it ,when you hear it ,you feel happy ,you feel you adore,in your mind ,you hope you can done extraordinary work as him.
